The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy 2019-2022 outlines the pathways to achieving this commitment through three main objectives:

We recognise and value the significant contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our pursuit of excellence through learning, discovery and engagement and welcome the knowledges, cultures, histories and languages that have been created and shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ for at least 65,000 years.

Professional Entry Pathway (PEP) Program

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Professional Entry Pathway Program provides Indigenous Australians with an opportunity to start and build their career in the field of their choosing.

The Program aims to provide specific professional development and/or qualifications while also receiving practical hands-on experience.

Applications for this program are accepted all year round through our Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Temps advertisement.

Vice-Chancellor’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduate Program

The Vice-Chancellor's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduate Program provides an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates to develop their professional career at UQ. 

Applications for the Vice-Chancellor’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduate Program are accepted annually from October to November. Successful candidates commence their roles in March each year. 

Academic Pathways Program

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Academic Pathways Program seeks to match academic candidates with potential areas of employment at UQ, in a teaching, research, or teaching and research role related to the academic’s area of research or discipline.

Applications for this program are accepted all year round through our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Academic Pathways Program – Expressions of Interest.
